The rumoured closing of one the area's
well known restaurants
and the expansion of pseudo-Chinese fast food chains are causing alarm among lovers of genuine oriental cuisine. Strange and fearsome
creatures roam about at night. Victoria would not be
amused.
Yet there are still a few places where decent people can feel that God's in his heaven and all's right with the world.
Definitely not one of these places is Dungeonscot,
the country retreat
of Jackson Dryve, millionaire inventor of the solar heating panel,
comic book collector, sportsman and sometime philanthropist.
Here is Jackson's svelte companion, Lydia Cranston, enjoying a day on the links. There is nothing sloppy about Lydia's golf swing, nor her costume either, as she is quite fashion-conscious. Yet she is as at home in the garden as in the Paris salons.
Lydia has often felt there is someting of the occult about Jackson. For example he has an almost morbid fascination with frogs. Jackson always tells her not to believe in those ridiculous conspiracy theories! Yet he spends many hours in his study with Lydia's mysterious brother Lamont. Are they hatching some diabolical plot?
